Sri Ganganagar
 
Sri Ganganagar is a district headquarters of Bikaner Division in Northern Rajasthan. This city derives its name from its founder, Late His Highness Ganga Singh ji. The district has a population of about 2 million with literacy rate of 65%. The life line of the district ‘Gang canal’ was the idea of the late Maharajah who spared no stone unturned to turn it into a reality and today it is because of this Canal that this part of Rajasthan is green and is well known for its citrus orchards, food grains and cotton.
 
Sri Ganganagar city which has a population of about 3 lakhs, is 470 kms from Delhi, 470 kms from Jaipur, 325 kms from Chandigarh, 285 kms from Amritsar and 225 kms from Bikaner. It is well connected by railways and surface transport to major cities of Rajasthan as well as adjoining states. The nearby International cum domestic airports are situated at Amritsar and New Delhi. Domestic airports are at Jaipur, Chandigarh and Bathinda (upcoming). The city has a good telecommunication system.
